Global Marketing Communications & Advertising

Global Marketing Communications & Advertising
I study in Emerson College, majoring in Global Marketing Communications & Advertising. This is a one-year master program.

The program provides much insight in global issues. The course contents and assignments all focus on “global” practices of companies.

In my class, there are 36 students in total. Half of us are international students, from more than 10 countries: China, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, India, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Canada. The American classmates are from different states.

Most of the time, all the students have the classes together. In total, we have 10 courses. In the past fall semester, we finished four courses: GM601 Marketing Management in a Global Environment, GM603 Cultural Foundations of Buyer and Organizational Behavior, GM604 Research Methods for Global Marketing, GM620 Global Brand Management. In the current spring semester, we also have four courses: GM605 Financial and strategic context global marketing, GM606 Global Marketing Communications Planning, GM636 Creative thinking and problem solving, and a selected course chosen from GM612 Global Public Relations, GM614 Global Advertising, and CC640 Web-based Communications Strategies. For the coming summer semester, we’ll have GM668 Global Marketing Capstone, and GM6
90 Global Marketing Intern.

For GM690 course, we can intern in any company or organization all over the world, international students under CPT. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to put what we’ve learnt into practice and prepare for future job. All of us will look for internship positions according to our interests and abilities under the supervision of professors and under the help of Career Services staff.

The professors of our GMCA program are nice and qualified, Thomas Vogel, William Anderson, Cathy Waters, Katie Youn… We not only enjoy learning knowledge in class, but also are happy to communicate with the professors after class.

Although the program is quite intense, and we always have tons of assignments to finish, it does not mean that our life is not colorful. As we all have classes together, about 4 hours each day, we form really close relationships between each other. We like to hang out after class. And so far, we have several birthday parties, holiday parties, and others. I believe everybody enjoys the happy time together with other GMCAers.
